The Future of Public Safety Initiative invites you to the fourth in a series of six online workshops designed to support communities that have signed onto the Reimagine Public Safety Pledge. The webinar will center around alternatives that keep people out of the criminal legal system and allow them to remain in their community while connecting them to support services that speak to their underlying needs. The panel will feature leaders around the country who will offer guidance on creating and sustaining these alternatives, including:
- Mayor Nancy Vaughan (Greensboro, NC)
- Latisha McNeil (Office of Community Safety Manager, Greensboro, NC)
- Brett Taylor (Senior Advisor – West Coast Initiatives, Center for Justice Innovation)
This workshop is focused on supporting the pledge communities but is open to all who are interested.
Please register for the webinar here.
About the Reimagine Public Safety Pledge
This Pledge calls on mayors and local officials to invest in public safety strategies and programs that engage community partners to effectively address violence and crime in order to heal communities. Mayors who have already signed the Pledge represent rural, urban, and suburban communities from all parts of the country including West Virginia, Texas, New York, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, and others.
It is not too late to sign the Pledge, and we invite our partners in communities across the country to join us. Additional details about the pledge can be found here and you can reach out to Rebecca Atkinson, Director of Programs and Partnerships for the Future of Public Safety Initiative at ratkinson@jjay.cuny.edu with any questions about the pledge.
