The Winter '25 and Spring '25 Non-Degree and Senior Auditor applications are now open!

John Jay College of Criminal Justice welcomes students from other campuses within CUNY, as well as students who are interested in taking classes without pursuing a degree. Please note, students educated outside of the United States cannot apply as a Non-Degree (Visiting) student and we do not process Graduate Non-Degree requests.

We will only process one application per term. Please do not submit multiple applications as it slows down processing times. Generally, we start processing applications 2 months before the start of the term.

There are three possibilities:

1.    E-Permit: Designed for current CUNY students, the E-permit enables you to study on a CUNY campus other than your home campus. Apply for the E-Permit.

2.    Non-Degree (Visiting) Students: You can apply to attend John Jay College as a visiting, non-degree student. Non-degree students are not eligible to receive any financial aid and pay a higher rate of tuition than degree students. Interested students must complete the application to qualify. You will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of $65 for each application submitted, so please ensure you request for the appropriate semester. You are responsible for paying this fee regardless of whether you enroll in classes for the semester. Apply as a Non-Degree (Visiting) student.

3.   Senior Auditing: If you are a New York state resident, 60 years of age or older, and have completed high school, you may attend John Jay College as a Senior Auditor for undergraduate courses. There is a 2 course limit per semester/session (excluding the Winter Intersession; Only 1 course permitted for all students). Senior Auditors pay $80 per semester/session and can enroll on a non-credit, space available basis. Interested auditors must complete the application to qualify. Apply as a Senior Auditor.

Once your application has been processed, you will receive notification about registering for your courses. Registration is on a space-available basis. Please note: There is no guarantee that you will be able to register for courses of your choosing. Course priority is given to John Jay College matriculated students. Registration for Non-Degree (Visiting) students will begin approximately one month prior to the start of the semester. Registration for Senior Auditors will begin approximately one week prior to the start of the semester.
