The federal law known as Title IX was enacted in 1972 to protect people from discrimination based on sex in education. This includes prohibiting unequal treatment based on sex or gender as well as sexual harassment, gender-based harassment and sexual violence at institutions receiving public funding. It is the mandate of the Office of Compliance and Diversity to oversee Title IX Compliance at the College and help if you or others experience any such issues.
CUNY’s Policy on Sexual Misconduct, which includes policies and procedures related to Title IX sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct, was revised on August 14, 2020. You may access the revised policy here.
Our Title IX coordinator and investigators have professional training in responding to sexual and gender-based harassment and provide vital supportive services.
The Office is also your resource for assistance with other forms of harassment and discrimination such as those involving race, color, creed, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, religion, age, immigration status, disability or other areas.
