Melinda Powers is a Professor in the English Department and the Ph.D. Program in Theatre and Performance at the CUNY Graduate Center.  Her interests include historiography, performance theory, contemporary theater, and ancient Greek literature, especially ancient Greek drama and its reception on the US stage. She is the editor of Reclaiming Greek Drama for Diverse Audiences:  An Anthology of Adaptations and Interviews (Routledge, 2020) and the author of Diversifying Greek Tragedy on the Contemporary US Stage (Oxford University Press, 2018) and Athenian Tragedy in Performance: A Guide to Contemporary Studies and Historical Debates (University of Iowa Press, 2014).  In addition, she has published several articles and reviews on the reception of Greek drama and has worked with US veterans through Aquila Theatre's National Endowment of the Humanities funded grants Warrior Chorus, You/Stories, Ancient Greeks/Modern Lives, and Page and Stage.
